## preference for: 偏爱；更喜欢 ##

the fact that you like something or someone more than another thing or person

She doesn’t seem to have a preference for apples.  
他好像不喜欢吃苹果。

Amy has a preference for pop and classic music, compared to jazz music.  
比起爵士乐，Amy更喜欢流行音乐和古典音乐。

## playlist: 歌曲列表 ##

a list of all songs chosen to be listened to

There are twenty songs on this playlist in her MP3.

I have updated club’s playlist for this special occasion tonight.

## album: 唱片 ##

a collection of several pieces of music, made available as a single item on a CD, the Internet, etc.

## chart-topping: 名列榜首的 ##

selling the most copies of a CD or album in a particular week  
*Note:* The book that sells most copies is called the **best-selling**.

They usually play only the chart-topping songs at the beginning of the show.

This month’s chart-topping songs are always being played in the bar in order to attract more young people.

# Grammar #

## prefer ##

*prefer* can be used as a verb, meaning “more like, would rather” usually with the following forms:

1.  prefer + noun.
2.  prefer + gerund
3.  prefer + infinitive
4.  prefer sb. to do sth.
5.  prefer A to B (A and B are parallel structure that can be nouns or gerunds.)
6.  prefer + that clause

*  — Would you like pork or fish?  
    — I’d prefer *fish*, thank you.
 *  Do you prefer *cooking at home* or eating in a restaurant?
 *  I prefer *to spend* the weekend at home.
 *  Their mother prefers *them to* come back early.
 *  She has always preferred *making her own dresses* to buying them in malls.
 *  I *prefer that* someone else come with me.
